[Bug 30207] Re: media:/ does not handle floppy mounting correctly

2008-07-20 Thread uqbar
As of today, the HAL / automount feature is not working again.
CDROMs, DVDROMs, USB memory and memory cards don't trigger the usual friendly
pop up dialog asking for actions (playing, opening/mounting etc.).
I'm runnig an up-to-date Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE 3.5.9.
I confirm that those HAL scripts are missing.

I get the same symptoms, also in Kubuntu (hardy). I think this has
nothing to do with hal, but is rather a KDE thing. Alex, yes on my box
the settings is checked. Can someone re-assign this bug to whatever sets
KDE accessibility settings?

[Bug 250327] [NEW] KDE runaway process catcher applet always reports programs with an empty name

2008-07-20 Thread Philip Ashmore
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kicker

This bug relates to the runaway process catcher applet on KDE 3.5.9.
lsb_release -rd prints:
Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release:8.04

The y/n y below indicates that the dialog box had two choices - a
yes button and a no button, and that I clicked on the yes button.

Occasionally (e.g. after logging in) the KDE runaway process catcher
reports:

First dialog:
A program called '' is slowing down the others on your machine. It may have a
bug that is causing this, or it may just be busy.
Would you like to try to stop the program? y/n n

Second dialog:
In future, should busy programs called '' be ignored? y/n y

It doesn't matter how many times I answer this question about programs with an
empty name (presumably on-the-fly scripts) - the runaway process catcher applet
asks me every time.
I looked in its configuration - an empty entry is there.

Two other points:
1. There really should be one dialog with a radio button - stop? *yes *no.
If the user selects no another radio button list is enabled asking ignore?
*yes *no. This is just a quibble.

2. This problem is just a special case - it's just as annoying when the
runaway process catcher applet asks me about python or bash -
there's not enough context for it to work with, so maybe there should be
a filter for these.

[Bug 250330] [NEW] kdesu starts empty after login

2008-07-20 Thread Philip Ashmore
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase

Use case:
Tabetha is logged in and running KDE 3.5.9 on Ubuntu 8.04.1
She runs Alt-F2 kdesu kate to see some logs / change blacklists etc. and
logs out without closing kate.
The next time she logs in, a message box is displayed saying that kdesu was run
without arguments.

Presumably this is because the session restore trickery cannot handle
applications started with kdesu.
I'll have to check if this happens even if I close the kdesu-started
application (right now I'm typing...).
