Ubuntu better. This certainly isn't an issue in kde-workspace so I'm
unassigning this. As you seem to need rather immediate help I'll convert
this bug into a question. Please file a new bug once it has been cleared
up what caused

Out of interest. What happens if there was no internet connection while
installing? Wouldn't that still lead to the same effect?
