This might be caused by https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=306008 This bug has been fixed upstream in poppler 0.20.4 which is available in Kubuntu 12.10 "Quantal Quetzal". Can you please test with Kubuntu 12.10 beta 2 now or with Kubuntu 12.10 final when it is released on 18th October 2012? *
