What's the actual problem with mysql? We only depend on mysql-server-
core, which is only the core data files, not the actual system service.
So if you use a different akonadi backend you won't have a running mysql
server, just the files lying around.

Same here, using i3 window manager (so it's not KDE for me) and wicd.
The disable auto-connect workaround seems to alliviate the problem. Hope
this helps to narrow this bug down.

I can confirm this as well on Kubuntu 15.04 Beta 2 fully upgraded as of
the day of this post. They are honoured initially but do not appear
when Dolphin is restarted. I can confirm that places elsewhere (kate)

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through
significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5
and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.
