Problem with the bug is the unspecificity (is that a word?). The problem is Nvidia and Nouveau. I solved it, as recommended, by using the proprietary driver. Guess what? If it were not freezing up, I would go back to Nouveau. Flash (OK, time to ditch that!) and Vimeo malfunction or do not work
