Just upgraded to Feisty (from Dapper). In dapper I could connect using
knetworkmanager, but not with wpa_supplicant directly. Now it is the
other way around. When I boot, I get the "KNetworkManager is connected"
pop-up, and it shows the wired connection icon (I do /not/ have a wired
connection).

When I click on the icon it says "Wired Devices" but doesn't list any,
and no mention of Wireless at all.

I can connect just fine on the command line:
sudo wpa_supplicant  -Dwext -iwlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf &
sudo dhclient wlan0

(I just thought: could it be because I renamed the device wlan0 from
eth1?)

BTW, I am using a ThinkPad Z60m.
