Confirmed. Still would like to find where the problem is.

I've talked to the Debian folks, as that's the preferred route for new
software, and they're concerned about a possible move to tty1 for SDDM.
They plan on patching that and uploading that in the future.
In the meantime, I'll try to get backported fixes for the bugs you
mentioned, as that's

@ David: Thanks for reporting this! Following the rules from the bugs-
squad I had to mark this bug-report as invalid as the incident didn't
come from an archives package. ;-)
I've had my test, to complete the positive impression you all gave me on
this ppa-package.
sudo apt get install
I have uploaded a fix to ppa:tsimonq2/sddm-fixes for Xenial, Yakkety,
and Zesty. If this fixes it, then it can be uploaded to Zesty and we can
follow the SRU process from there for Xenial and Yakkety.

I'm not sure this is worth backporting as this might not justify an SRU.
I can certainly get it fixed in Zesty if you believe it shouldn't wait
until 0.14 gets in the archive.
Please speak up if you think this is urgent enough.

Also confirming the bug is still present. Just installed a clean Kubuntu
16.04 system, fully updated. Tried to run the update-apt-xapian-index,
which reported it not there. So had to install first, reboot, then run
update. Now, driver manager works.
I'm surprised this bug is still present. It was

After some experimenting and google'ing, I think I figured out, what the
reason for this issue is:
kwin of Plasma 5 seems to require the "SSE2" CPU extension, which my
Athlon XP 3000+ CPU does not have (it just has MMX, 3DNow! and SSE).

taglib 1.11.1 has just be released, and fixes an ABI breakage, cf.

I indeed noticed some breakage when trying to do this locally (before I
checked out what Debian had).
