Hi,
I installed a fresh hardy rc guest image (from
ubuntu-8.04-rc-alternate-i386.iso) yesterday and after entering my
password the guest crashes.
It may be useful to know that the guest already successfully used the
sound system at that point to indicate a successful boot.
This does not happen

I start seeing the effect at 1400x1050 and higher. (including 1440x900)
This happens to be the native resolution for my monitor and the size of
my desktop.
The effect is notably worse when selecting 1600x1200
It happens at both full-screen and windowed.

I THINK this is due to the fact that kvm-60+ uses a realtek nic as
default and not the old ne2000.
You could try specifying -nic,model=ne2k_pci
I expected this bug to happen on my virtual windows too but it never
happened.

Hi,
Is there a fast and simple way to tell the version of the binary?
I think I remember something about that on this mailing list, but I
can't find it in 'qemu-system-x86_64 -h'

I get the following error when modprobing the new module:

Patch applied, rebuild (twice) but still the same error.

Ah, check.
Thank you.

The message that this should be fixed was reason for me to test it
again, and it fails miserably, even on kvm-36
I checked with "modinfo kvm-intel" that i am in fact using kvm-36,
processor is a core 2 duo 6300
$ /usr/local/bin/qemu -hda winXP.img -hdb vdisk.img -m 256 -soundhw
es1370 -std-vga
No, I'm not,
changing to
/usr/local/bin/qemu-system-x86_64
fixes it, Tnx!

Hi,
What kernel is required to run this version?
I get the message
kvm: unknown symbol div64_64
when inserting this module in my ubuntu feisty 2.6.20-16-generic kernel.
A quick google led me to believe this is only recently included in the
kernel.

The patch seems to work, it compiles, inserts, and I can start a vm.
I can't test properly until later.
Thanks!

KVM will not compile from location with space in path
Perhaps some quotes are in order.

I have that too, but with a ps/2 mouse so the usb is in the clear, or it
is an unrelated problem. But I don't think so.
