Featured Speakers: Green Party 2014 candidate
for Governor Luis Rodriguez and Green Party
candidate for State Controller Laura Wells
Luis Rodriguez is new to Green Party, but a
powerful champion for social justice, grassroots
organizing, sustainability, and nonviolence. Noted
social commentator, awarded Chicano writer,
mentor and mediator to youth, Rodriguez was
2012 Justice Party Vice Presidential running
mate with Rocky Anderson.
Co-founder of Network for Revolutionary Change,
Luis Rodriguez brings a strong social conscience
to the Green Party, and hopes his Governor's
campaign will empower poor, disenfranchised,
and forgotten Californians.
Laura Wells is the California Green Party's
top vote-getter. In 2002 and again in 2006, she
garnered nearly half a million votes in her State
Controller run. In 2010 Laura was the candidate
for Governor. At a gubernatorial debate that
excluded third party candidates, Wells was arrested
as she attempted to watch the debate.
Laura's key proposals in her State Controller
campaign are for a State Bank to invest in California,
not Wall Street, and to tax the rich in order to reverse
a decades-long push that lowered taxes on the
super-rich and raised taxes on the rest of us, a move
that greatly increased the inequality of wealth, power,
and opportunity.
An informal houseparty/fundraiser for these two Green
Party candidates will be held nearby in Irvine after
5:00 pm. Directions will be available at General

The GPOC County Council meeting will immediately
follow the General Meeting. All attendees are
welcome to stay and view the business aspects
of running the Green Party during the County Council
meeting.
