Yet, instead of sitting down with us, to help find the solutions, you ignored your mandate and postured around "health and safety." Well, those problems are gone now and our issues remain unaddressed. I've seen how the city rolled out a riot squad to protect private property (BoA) from a handful of campers, but then you turn around and treat all of our personal property as if it were a pile of garbage. Then, on arresting nearly 300 peaceful protestors, for exercising their constitutional rights, the city violates the law itself, by illegally detaining them for 3 days, on a charge that would normally be a cite and release offense. However, according to the mayor, police chief and city attorney, we needed to be made examples of and taught a lesson, and therefore not granted equal protection under the 14th Amendment of our Constitution. Above that, we were never read our Miranda Rights, were not given a free phone call, and were denied access to lawyers and visitors. We were even denied a bar of soap and at least five people got food poisoning, so if you want to look at Health and Safety violations, perhaps you can start with your own jails. But the worst thing of all - what has scared me the most - is that the first news I received upon my release is that the U. S. Senate just passed a bill to indefinitely detain American citizens, right here at home; while President Obama preaches "Prolonged Detention." With what villainy do they dare shred Habeas Corpus! . right behind the City of Los Angeles - and for what purpose? To scare us? Well, it worked. I'm scared out of my wits. I can't work. I can't sleep at night. I'm terrified that some black van is just going to pull up and take me away. What's next, the trains and gas chambers? I'm afraid to even open my mouth out of fear that I might get arrested simply for exercising my 1st Amendment Rights. Yes, I am terrified. So what does that make you?
