#1 "End of the Rule of Law under Bush Administration",
Rachel Meerepol in Fullerton Tuesday, Feb. 29th

Terrorism, Tyranny and Torture: the Expansion of Executive
Powers and the End of the Rule of Law under the Bush
Administration

Rachel Meerepol, esq., Attorney for the Center for
Constitutional Rights.

3pm Tuesday 29 February 2005
First Floor [Room 101]
Western State University School of Law.
[across the street from California State College, Fullerton
North State College Boulevard
Fullerton, CA

Rachel Meerepol, esq. will be speaking on her work in support
of the Constitutional rights of detainees at Guantanamo. In the
war against terrorism, the Bush Administration has ignored
both domestic and international law, employing torture and
denying liberty without due process to citizens and non-citizens
alike, detaining individuals within the U.S., in Afghanistan,
Guantanamo and Iraq, and in secret facilities around the world.

           The Center for Constitutional Rights

Founded in 1966, the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR)
is a non-profit legal and educational organization dedicated
to protecting and advancing the rights guaranteed by the U.S.
Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
CCR uses litigation to guarantee the rights of those with
the fewest protections and least access to legal resources,
to train the next generation of constitutional and human rights
attorneys, and to strengthen the broader movement for
progressive social change.

Since September 11, CCR has focused much of its efforts
on the Bush Administration's illegal expansion of executive
powers, by working to guarantee the rights of those detained
without due process or legal protections and challenging the
Administration's use of torture in its "war on terrorism." On
June 28, 2004, the Center for Constitutional Rights won a
landmark Supreme Court ruling in Rasul v. Bush, affirming
the basic rights of those detained in Guantanamo to an
attorney and to challenge their detentions in U.S. courts.
The New York Times hailed the victory as the most important
civil liberties case in 50 years.

                        Rachel Meeropol

Rachel Meeropol has been a full-time attorney since September
2002 at CCR where she works on executive detentions cases,
including Guantanamo, in addition to prisoners' and immigrants'
rights issues.

#2 George Shrub in Laguna Beach Wednesday,
       March 9th

From: "Jim" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Humor and Politics 101

If you're looking for a night of laughs from some
cutting-edge political satire, you need look no further
than songwriter and comedian Dave Lippman, alias
George W. Shrub, CIA, who will be appearing in Laguna
Beach on Wednesday, March 9th, at the Neighborhood
Congregational Church.

George Shrub has been traveling throughout his
globalized domain, sharing his Point of View (the
Right One) so that people won't need their own. He
employs anti-folk songs and interventionary anthems
to explain (and enforce) that the business of America
is none of your business, that unions are never civil,
and that the proper place for himself, like Wal-Mart,
is everywhere.

Lippman , meanwhile, has been trying to keep up
with his shadow, Shrub, touring closely behind him.
He continues to afflict the complacent, occasionally
rhyming in the process. Dave has been known to
take the air out of the windbags of the week, de-distort
history, and rewrite the classics with parody and
thrust. Mr. Lippman is the founder of the International
Federation of Investigative Songwriters, which no one
has joined. He remains one of America's foremost
non-corporate comedians.

On Saturday February 26, political satirist Dave Lippman
will be in Orange County appearing as
"George Shrub: The World's Only Known Singing CIA Agent."
Among Shrub's more popular songs are:

I Hate Wal-Mart - surely a commercial hit.

Teenage Immigrant Welfare Mothers on Drugs -
the ultimate enemy of the week

Hamburger Hill - Downsizing the family's value

PLUS: Bohemian Grove, All My Friends Are
Semi-Famous, Straight White Middle Class Male,
Free At Last...and more

        Visit www.davelippman.com to hear songs,
purchase cds, and learn more about Dave Lippman
and George Shrub.

Sponsored by the Laguna Beach Peace Vigil, the show
begins at 7:00 PM The Neighborhood Congregational
Church is located at: 340 St. Ann's Drive Laguna Beach,
CA 92651 At the corner of St. Ann's Drive and Glenneyre

"Peace vigil every Sunday night at the foot of the
Huntington Beach Pier, 7-8 pm

We are a small group of people who believe in
non-violence both physically and in our thoughts.
We stand at the pier with a sign that says:"Visualize
World Peace. It's up to you". We want people to
start believing that it is possible to have a world at
peace, even if it's hard for most people to even
imagine it. We will discuss peace and non-violence
in a spirit of dignity and respect with anyone who
is rational and smile quietly at those who aren't.

With all the violence in our world, we seek to
encourage people to look at the alternative - to seek
peace in their hearts and in our world.
