Dear "Chain Reaction" Community of Friends:
If we all are honorably working together, we can restore and strengthen Paul Conrad's important "Chain Reaction" sculpture in our Civic Center. We all want to ensure that the landmarked public art work is safe and respected , as this iconic gifted peace monument deserves to be. A joint fundraising effort should now be started, with Santa Monica and the Conrad family working together to secure large private foundation donations. The collaborative fundraising effort should be enthusiastic and passionate. The collaborative effort can also welcome large or small donations from individuals, community groups, or local businesses. Perhaps a developer or two might want to help with the needed "Chain Reaction" funding as part of their contribution to the Arts in Santa Monica. And, Santa Monica should be willing to fund their proposed "safety buffer" construction around the sculpture, as well as put up City funds if the joint fundraising effort is not fully achieved. Thank you, Jerry Rubin 310-399-1000 P.S. Your donations- large or small- are always appreciated. Please visit: ConradProjects.com and/or facebook.com/SaveTheChainReaction P.P.S. Hope you can attend- and help network- the special "Save Chain Reaction" candlelight vigil Tuesday, September 4 from 5PM (until 7PM) on the 2nd anniversary of Paul Conrad's passing. It will take place at the sculpture's Civic Center location (1800 block of Main Street, just north of Pico Blvd.).
