Iraqi Labor Leaders Tour – Los Angeles
Six Iraqi labor leaders will be visiting the U.S. between June 10 and
26. Their visit will provide the first opportunity for American working
people, members of Congress, students, scholars, the
general public
and the media to hear directly from Iraqi trade unionists.
In LA, from June 16 – 19, Hassan Juma’a Awad Al Asade and Faleh Abbood
Umara from the General Union of Oil Workers (GUOW) in Basra will attend
labor events and public forums sponsored by LA peace groups, community
organizations and union locals. Hosts include United Teachers Los
Angeles, LA County Federation of Labor, United for Peace and
Justice-SoCal, Harry Bridges Institute, UCLA Labor Center, SEIU 660 and
Interfaith Council United for Justice and Peace.
Sponsorship and Endorsement and Individual Donation Information
The costs to transport, house, present and translate for these Iraqi
labor leaders are high. We invite you to become a part of this historic
occasion by supporting the Los Angeles section of the tour.
Sponsor - $150 Flyer/PR listing, program recognition and literature
table space at June 18 event.
Endorser - $50 Flyer/PR listing and program recognition
We also encourage any private donations (Donations over $50 will
receive program recognition).
