The station is in debt to the Empire State Building to the tune of $250,000, representing overdue rent. The landlord seeks both payment and to break the lease and expel the station's broadcast transmitter. Without a transmitter, our radio dies. In spite of our deep dissatisfaction with the lack of process and other rights violations at WBAI, and questions about how and why conditions could have been allowed to reach this point, we lend our voice to the call for contributions that are as generous as you can afford. In the coming days, we will provide more background information, plans to prevent a recurrence, and other ways you can become involved.
