My mother's Singer had a buttonhole attachment. She got the machine for a
wedding present in 1953. I used the same buttonhole attachment on my Singer

The Treadle I have is a Selecta, from USA I think. It has lots of
attachments but no book. Have not taken a good look at what they do.
I learned on Mum's Treadle, I was 5 because my brother Michael was crawling
when he caused the needle to go through my thumb and he drowned 2 weeks

I, too, had one of those chain-stitch sewing machines in the mid-50's.
It was for girls because it was non-electric and very small. THere was
no bobbin thread. The fly-wheel was hand-cranked to make the stitches.

Sue, your jacket is beautiful! I enjoyed seeing your other work as well.

My Mum had her Mums old singer treadle for many years and was ready to hand
it over to me, she said. But that was just after we purchased my first own
machine, a hand operated singer. I had used Mums for years, but never tried
lacework, only dressmaking with lace. Embroidery I did by hand.

I have not seen any mention of an Arachne get-together. Denver organised a

Dear Secret Pal,
What a lovely package to come home to after work. Once again it was stuffed
to the brim with goodies. The stitch 'n hang is really cute, I have not seen
one before. I will enjoy doing it as I have not done counted cross stitch in
years. I can always use a pillow anchor. I

Those belts are still being made. Ask at any place that

It may be marginal as a chat candidate, but we're all adults here,
