Jenny,
Thank you for the use of your website again. I especially like your lace title
to the pages on the Arachne exchange. What a nice selection of cards and
ornaments. Some really nice designs this year in a variety of laces.
Both of my cards were my own design but I had problems working th
Hi All
Anybody know of a lace teacher in the Wrexham area of Wales? I have a

I have a couple of comments on the discussion of the word database.
1. One book, especially if it's a history or instruction book about lace (or a
type of lace) is likely to have the terms repeated many times throughout the
pages. Remember, the graphs show the number of times the words appear,
I think the probable explanation here is that in the 20th Century, odd

also the more likely reason why, when demonstrating, we get so many of a
certain generation insisting that we are tatting, when in fact we are

Okay I give up.
My apologies--I don't know how to fix the formatting. Sometimes it's okay and
sometimes it's horrible...

You were also living in a lacemaking area, whereas I wasn't. So it may have
been the location rather than the timing. I originally come from the
northwest, but was living near Greenwich, London when I went to classes.

Hi Brian,
Although I am not able to collaborate with you, because I don't have nor use
the bobbins you are studying, I am also very grateful to read all you are
writing, as I had never thought there could be such a variety of one type of
bobbins. Thank you very much for sharing your investigations
But Brian you've now got more than all of us!!

You can found some different results if you match "bobbin lace" and
"Needlepoint lace", in many books "needlelace" is called "needlepoint
lace"

I have just shared this in a private email but I thought I would pass on
this thought to you "guys" (In Oz this is both M and F) as it is something
that has become very evident in the last two weeks.
I know of a few bobbin collectors that have larger and possibly more
representative collection
