I can't help you with the brand, but 70/2 should be the size (2 plies of weight
70). The rest would refer to half-bleached. Unbleached linen is quite brown,
fully bleached is white, and half-bleached is 'blonde' or pale brown.
At an estate sale I picked up some spools of linen lace thread, but they
weren't
in a box, so I'm not sure what brand they are.
There's a paper
sleeve around one of the spools with a bull's head. The word
"trade" is to
the left and the work "mark" is to the right of the picture.

Two of my lacemaking friends have recently purchased the book Spinnen,

I thought that one of the names sounded familiar. We saw Gabriel Metsu's
lacemaker at the Kunsthistorische Museum in Vienna a couple of years ago
during our honeymoon.
Quite a few of the artist's paintings mentioned are on the web if you look
with references to the locations.

The correct size rubber band can also be found in the bag of mixed sizes bands
at Staples. One bag will have six or eight of the correct size.

Sharon, Liz is right about the size... and her supply!! She has
generously given me my own life-time supply as well!!
The winder is made by John Beswick at Torchon House in Australia. I
hope one of our Australian friends can tell us if he still makes these.

Sharon,
If you are thinking of the Pocket Bobbin Winder the rubber band size is 31 (2
1/2 inches long, 1/8 inch wide). This is a size that is not readily available
in the US so I ordered a 1 pound box. Now I have ten times a lifetime supply.
If you will contact me privately at lbuy...@nc.rr.c
