It is not necessary to plait them. Just use several of the threads
together. That is what they often did in Chantilly. Sometimes they even took
one
out and used it in the body of the lace if they needed it, and then put it
back into the bundle.

that I have, but I don't know how to select a proper gimp for this. Is it
ok to use a cotton thread like Pearl Cotton as a gimp in silk, or should
As Devon says, it's not necessary to plait threads for a gimp, just use several
strands together to make up the required thickness, which is at least four
times, and preferably six times the thickness of the main thread.
Mixing cotton gimp with linen thread is OK, they are both cellulose
