I have had several lovely ideas so thank you very much ladies and having looked at the various ones I have gone back to one I made some years ago, which is the one by Claire Burkhard and used as part of a dream catcher inside our living history tent awning and in our home for some time. It is too big to reuse on my top, but the lines are pleasing so I have dug out the pattern again, reduced it in size but have decided to add or extend a couple of areas to get the look I want. So now I need to get on with my Christmas lace so I can get set up to make this dragonfly. I needed some inspiration and all you lace makers help, so thank you. Now need to decide on colours:-) I have some ideas.

Hello Sue and all,
There is a dragonfly in the book, 50 New Bobbin Lace Patterns by Claire Burkhard, page 64. I have a couple of them sewn to a tee shirt, although the wings are half stitch and had to have a few extra stitches to hold them in place..... I also attached some clear sequins for a bit of sparkle.

3 inches across the wingspan, but not honiton as this is not a lace I have
made. I have a pattern for a torchon dragonfly but it is too big for the job
I want it to do. But I am wondering if I could reduce it and try.
Any advice, help out there to point me in the right direction? Does anyone know if Louise has designed a dragonfly please? or any of he other ones. So
many I dont have all the books or seen many of them either.
