I hope I'm getting this link right..Regarding the lilac it is truly butifal
turned
I have had some heart woodthat was brown to purple and the outer part
cream to white I would clasify it as a hard wood.
If there is wood that has been standing in your yard even branches from
grannys place you would like to turn in to family bobbins when you cut them
Green it is a good idea to seal the ends with Wax or a latex paint thind
down with waterjust till its not of a thik cosistincy we just whant to seal
the pores on the end so the moischer slowly leaves out the sides , if the
ends are not sealed it dryes to fast and craks throuw out, a slower drying
it shrinke a little but your wood stays solide.
depending on how large a pice you save will depend on the time it takes to
dry from a couple of monthes to a couple of years,, and for small pices to
force the drying time you can play with microwave oven drying but that is
somthing youll have to recirch and play with your self.
