I guess I have missed the beginning of this thread. I grew up with three languages. German was spoken at home, Hebrew outside and English in school. When it came to lacemaking I had a teacher who came from Prague. There were no lace words in Hebrew so she translated some from her language into Hebrew . Nothing similar to any lace terminology we know inEnglish German or French ( I know some French too). It worked as long as I didn't use any books. Then for a while I had some trouble, but in the end I was using the English words for lace making and when I sometimes talk with a friend who makes a bit of lace we use the English terminology. I don't know Russian so I don't know what is happening there. The only word I know is bobbin lace in Russian and then I get a big AHAHA and that is about it.
