Wonderful news this morning, Pat Read has been awarded an MBE in the
Queen's Birthday honours list.
And about time too.
Swanley lacemakers nominated her two years ago and were thrilled to
discover she has been given this award.
The listing reads that she has been awarded this for
WOW, that is really amazing, fantastic news. There couldn't be a better,
more deserving award person for all she has done teaching so many people with
so
many types of lace in general and with the research and development of
Milanese in particular.

That is great news - that a Lacemaker has been recognised for her skills in
the craft.
So many others get noticed for doing strange things with other crafts, that
it is uplifting to know Lace has been recognised.
