[lace] Lace 8 updates

It is 6 a.m. in Sydney where there is a heatwave. The temperature is already 24 and we're expecting it to go over 40 later in the day!I've just had a cold shower to try and wake myself up after a bad night - trying to sleep in these conditions tends to make me feel as if I've got a hangover!
