You can use old/broken bobbins for a number of things

1. If the neck is broken - Cut off and sand down to the body, make a small
hole, and with some contact adhesive, insert a needle into the body, to use as
either a sewing-in tool, or a pricker

2. If the body is damaged - Cut in half lengthwise, using material, some
embroidery thread, make a small embroidered name tag, obtain a broach pin from
your local bead shop and sandwich name tag between broach pin and bobbin.  A
unique name tag for lacing occasions

3. Also for bobbins where the neck has broken - Drill a whole through the
length and insert a pen refil - a nice keepsake for those bobbins that have a
special place in our hearts.

There are lots more uses, but these 3 come most redily to mind.
