Not quite right.
Wind the thread around a pencil or thin strip of card several times so that the wraps are lying close together but not overlapping. If it's a torchon pattern the thread will be suitable if 12 wraps cover the distance between two footside pinholes. If it's point ground only 10 wraps. Bedfordshire/
Cluny, Braid and sectional laces are more trial and error.
