Dare I suggest one of the oxidising bleaches like 'Vanish', which remove
stains but not colour. Contains no chlorine and is available in two types -
one for whites (which I don't use) and one for whites and coloured (which I
do). I haven't used it on anything valuable, but as someone who has returned
to her childhood and really needs a bib when eating, it gets everything out
of my cotton tops that I spill including red wine, blackcurrant juice,
strawberry juice and curry sauce. They've all dried before I put them in the
washing machine. Sometimes I do a spot treatment with it, but only on the
rare occasion when the stain hasn't been removed fully in a normal wash.
