Jane describes it just so; this is the same as the way I do it -- the pin always comes from the outside of the lace in toward the center, under the twists on both threads, and the motion is almost 270 degrees around -- down, out, and back around from the top to reach the pinhole. The long way around. (The short way being coming in from the outside of the lace toward the center and bringing the pin up to the pinhole from there -- this doesn't set the loop in the right direction.)

I'm glad to know I'm not alone in doing what I think of as the lazy way of making picots. <g> And I think they turn out pretty well, on either side.
