There had been a cottage industry of Freehand Lace near Salzburg from the 17th century. Thanks to Monika Thonhauser we now know about it. She has published 6 collections of patterns in the Salzburg bobbin lace series. Not all the laces have been made freehand, though probably more than we think today.
Only Folge 4 and 6 contains laces with Flanders Ground. While the titles are in German only the text is in German, English, French, and Dutch.
