The pattern for our Un-Conference Workshop is from Lace Express 1/01. It's
Torchon but has some tricky places, such as passives coming out to the edge and
making picots, and 3-pair crossings.

Someone was asking about 3-pair crossings, but the message seems to have
disappeared from my email.

We found a simple one in a beginning book, I think by Bridgett Cook. I know
there are other ways, also.

Number pairs 1 to 3. Twist all pairs if they don't have a twist already. Take
pair 2 and set it aside so you have only 1 and 3 in front of you.

Cross, twist pairs 1 and 3. Then take pair two and lay it in the middle of the
stitch you just made. (If there's a pinhole in the middle, pin between the two
threads of pair 2.) Twist pair 2 again.

Ignoring pair 2, cross and twist pairs 1 and 3.

You're done. Tension, and continue your pattern.

Back to the pattern.... It took the first day to get the pairs hung on the
outside edging of the oval doily, and do one repeat. Today I did three repeats
in class, and another at home. I have 21 repeats to go.

The pattern is edged in fans with a wide, solid clothstitch area on the outside
edge of the fan, made up of five pair. Between the fans is a single picot made
with the two outermost passives. Since I chose to use color in those five
passives, my picots are pink instead of the basic white of the rest of the
edgeing.

The center of the doily is Torchon ground with some chevrons in half and cloth
stitch, plus some spiders. I plan to use my color in the chevrons so all my
chevrons will be clothstitch.

Happy lacing,
Alice in Oregn
