Having been away for a couple of days, I'm a bit late picking up on some of
these threads but...
The change of description is there, but as someone else said, I'm inclined to
think these are modern, commercial Chinese or whatever, not Granny-made.
What did amuse me however is if you
Sue, as a tatter I am not offended just frustrated that most people can't
recognize the differences between the laces. So many times, at demos, folks
will
confuse tatting with crochet or bobbin lace. I have had it also confused
with drop spindle spinning (amazingly enough)!
So no offense.

Sorry - that sounds offensive to tatters. It wasn't meant to read like
that - just that the piece on EBay is clearly not tatting and it would be
impossible to produce those results (eg half stitch diamonds) in tatting

coasters sold in sets of 4 several years ago. I don't recall the cost,
but they were clearly marked Made in China. I did buy an oval piece 5 x 8
inches for a nominal price, which I don't recall but was probably about $5,
