Just curious, I looked in my Gage dictionary with word origins, and the word 'mangle' for the machine (as for laundry) is from the Dutch 'mangel' and latin 'manganum', a contrivance. or from the Greek (info from AskOxford online), 'manganon' axis, engine. I would like to thank Sally for posting
