Fran (Bloomer?) makes lovely bobbins and other wood tools. I love her Danish
ones, many have bowling ball material for the ball of the bobbin. She's used
bowling ball for tatting shuttles, too. She sometimes comes to IOLI
convention, but often just sends her things with Kathy Kirchner.
Diane Miller moved to France. I think it was the Evian region. I
haven´t heard anything of her recently - but I just love her bobbins

Prime example of someone being a little over precious if you ask me. It has

now buy her designs and all the people who may have seen worked samples and

The last few days we have been chatting about the different makers and
decorators of lace bobbins, this has been compiled into two lists and is
definitely not to be considered the complete list as I am sure each of us
can think of more to add to the list.

Well I didn't think that my innocent posting would result in such an

Alas, although I did make some bobbins for my youngest daughter from 3mm

Hi Jenny
Thanks for that list - a couple of small corrections.
Acorn Bobbins is the trading name of Eric Sutton
Winslow Bobbins is the trading name of Dennis SIzeland, now retired, the

Yes, Jenny, I think it would be a very informative tool for our inventories!
My daughters have asked me to do an inventory of my lace 'stuff' so they will
know how to dispose of it at a later date.
I am using the scanner and photos to do it. Now I need to get my books
inventoried.

Hi Jenny
Thank you so much for all your hard work compiling the lists. You have
now spurred me on to do something which I´ve been meaning to do for
ages - Settle down and catalogue and photograph all my bobbins. As

We can add the late Mr. Le Grande, Vancouver BC, who turned many many

from the area could refine the information. I've forgotten his first

Hi All,
One more from Canada. Sid Rose from Edmonton, AB, turned bobbins, not as
finely finished as some others but good, useable bobbins. I used to send
him the bobbin blanks of various woods and he would turn them in the style I
requested and send them back. One time I sent him some slightly
Thanks Cindy - I knew of him but could not recall the name. Yes his

Hello
Here is the name or another very good Canadian bobbin maker. André Moulin is
very careful with his work and what is most pleasant is that you can design

I was pleasantly surprised at the recent IOLI convention at Portland, that
in the lesson I had with Elena Dickson, she was quite happy for us to
photocopy pages from her books, if it was for ourselves, so that we could
just take the necessary pages out with us, and not lug the whole book
around.
