Fran (Bloomer?) makes lovely bobbins and other wood tools. I love her Danish ones, many have bowling ball material for the ball of the bobbin. She's used bowling ball for tatting shuttles, too. She sometimes comes to IOLI convention, but often just sends her things with Kathy Kirchner.

I was pleasantly surprised at the recent IOLI convention at Portland, that in the lesson I had with Elena Dickson, she was quite happy for us to photocopy pages from her books, if it was for ourselves, so that we could just take the necessary pages out with us, and not lug the whole book around.
