I've noticed on a particular TV quiz show that the producers obviously don't
like the ladies to show too much leg or any cleavage whatsoever, and I
suspect the wardrobe department has a stock of black leggings to wear with
short dresses and both black and white lace-edged rectangles of fabric

Hi
I came across a link to a Croatian bobbinlace site. It is mostly Idrija style
tape lace, but also some figural lace and jewelry in metallic threads.

I like this one too Jean. I have a couple I have made plus one commercial
one, so I will try pinning and playing with them to see what looks ok, what
good and what great, before I decide to make any specific lace, which I
have now decided is a must. Perhaps I will achieve something before my
Thank you Darlene, that thought has been rattling around my head also for a

it on underneath it to see if it all sits ok, the new grey one is a snug fit
around the top, so I dont want wrinkles in the camisole

I have no experience of working needlelace in wire but gather it can be done
and I would be interested to know how you get on with it - assuming you're

Hi All
Just before Christmas I took a class in beginners Needlelace - which I really
enjoyed and would like to do some more.
Does anyone know where I can get some architects linen from?
Alternatively - what do people use as a replacement and how successful is it?
Many thanks in anticipation of
HI Jill;
I use a paper pattern covered with clear Contact paper. Sturdy enough
for one use.

As I read the replies to this question a thought popped into my head. Why not
purchase a fine knit camisole and add a band of lace across the top. Naturally,
you could alter the neckline to work with the lace you have done. I think it
would sit best with the top in question and could be used
I like architect's linen more, but sticky backed plastic (e.g. for covering
books) works ok, and you can just stick it over your design

Hi Jill
I use a dark blue matt sticky backed plastic because most of my work done
using fine thread and in white, which gives a good contrast and not so hard
on the eyes. You can also buy the sticky backed plastic in paler, more
neutral colours.

Hello everyone
I have received my card from my partner Sherry this morning.
Its made of two different laces. Its a reindeer made in Russian tape lace with
the fillings made of tatting. Its beautifully done Sherry. You should be proud

Hi Jill,
I was taught to use a piece of fabric folded into quarters (finish the edges to
avoid rough edges). The pattern is traced onto a piece of soft plastic which I
buy in the upholstery department at JoAnn Fabrics in the US, using a permanent
marker. You have to remember to reverse the

Architect's linen isn't really necessary. Most of us use standard weight
paper for the pattern, and then cover the paper with sticky plastic film (to
keep the pattern from tearing, and to keep ink off the lace). I suggest you

I can't recall seeing any wire needle lace (wire bobbin lace is fairly
common). But metallic looking threads could certainly be used. There are a
few examples among the NEEDLELACETALK photos.

Thank you for telling us the news about Doris Southard's passing. She was a
very fine lady, generous, good natured and always helpful. I have held her in
great reverence ever since I had first contact with her back in 1973. She has
given so much to the world. Her life was a gift.
