[lace] Knitting on planes

2015-12-12 Thread L Weiss
I'm flying next week and was just thinking about taking knitting but,
dang!--I'm fresh out of large eucalyptus seed pods.

Oh, that is such a David Collyer story!

Actually, I have found that I can get the needles on the plane, but can't
use them during the flight when I'm shoe-horned in with 2 others on the
row of a full plane. I've been working on little cotton
washcloths/dishcloths with lace-ish patterns and was looking forward to
moving that project along during a day of flying but it hasn't been
possible for several trips. Might have more luck if I have a little
elbow room next week.

Happy Holidays all!

Re: [lace] Arachne website up and ready for viewing

2015-12-12 Thread sueat
Well I have taken a first look and there is some amazing lace displayed and
being received around the world. Aren't we all lucky people? I always
struggle to find an idea when it comes to this time of year and am always so
impressed with all the incredible patterns that are out there.
Keep up the good work everyone, and I hope the post delivers everyones lace
very soon.

season. I hope all the lacemakers in the flooded areas in the north of our
country are all safe and dry

This year there have been a few changes to the website,

1. I have tried to cater for those of us who surf with tablets and phones
so the layout is slightly different.

2. There is a few ways of surfing the site,

* Start at the index page and click through one page at a time as usual

* View a thumbnail (small) picture of the lace to select a particular
piece to view (replaces the mass pages)

* And the last one, by name of maker

3. There is now a small selection of lace book details linked to the
relevant page. A picture of the cover, publisher, language and ISBN.

Wonder on over and take a look at the wonderful selection at

Hi all,

This afternoon I received a beautiful ‘star with beads in a bangle’
Christmas ornament from Emily Wheeler in Australia. I have sent Emily a
personal email to thank her, but will say it again;- “Thank you very much
indeed. It is much appreciated and it will be on display for all to see with
my other Christmas exchange treasures”. My lace students always enjoy seeing
them as well, especially those using techniques which are new to them.

Wishing you al a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous, Laceful New Year.

Joepie.
