Re: [lace] Another way to facilitate a sewing?
Awesome idea! I never thought of using a needle for something like that. Thanks for the tip! Liz Roberts in Missouri, USA "That left the two inner passives squeezed--big mistake! A Beadalon beading needle with a collapsable eye saved my day. I cut off the bobbins leaving generous tails, then threaded the beading needle thru the pinhole to pull up a loop for the sewing." - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. Susan Can you upload a photo of the lace or pattern so that those of us who don't have the book can see if we can help? [lace] Another way to facilitate a sewing?
While attempting to sew in the end of a trail to it's beginning, I was unable to sew in two passive pairs because of tight spacing. I had added magic threads for the outside passive pair & at the inside pin where the weaver pair ended at the inner edge. That left the two inner passives squeezed--big mistake! A Beadalon beading needle with a collapsable eye saved my day. I cut off the bobbins leaving generous tails, then threaded the beading needle thru the pinhole to pull up a loop for the sewing. This particular needle is very flexible so it conformed to the space & the eye is quite large so it was easy to thread. I positioned the needle first, then threaded the eye. The only caveat is that the shaft is raspy so I don't think it would be useful for silk thread. I was using hairy linen & it worked great. Just wanted to share in case someone else needs flexible help in a tight spot. The only marking on the package is 6.4cm/2.5in Fine. It also comes in other sizes. ! Obviously I need to use magic threads in all starting pinholes, but in case I goof up again, there is an answer! [lace] OIDFA
This week I’ve been asked by a couple of people what will happen now that the 2018 OIDFA Congress in Bruges has been cancelled. If you are also wondering about this you will find a statement from the OIDFA Executive Council on the OIDFA website - go to https://www.oidfa.com/cong.html and click on the link about half way down the page. You’ll also find photos from this year’s Congress in Ljubljana, Slovenia further down the page. I was there and thoroughly enjoyed both the Congress weekend and the tour afterwards.
