RE: [lace] Christmas Lace Star has now been mounted

2017-01-06 Thread J-D Hammett
Hi Sue and fellow Arachnids,

What a lovely Christmas ornament and the comet shaped wire frame sets it off
beautifully.

Happy lace making,

Joepie in rather grey and miserable Sussex, UK

[lace] Russian tape lace

2017-01-06 Thread Susan
Thank you all for solving my problem! After viewing Lorelei's diagrams & pg
147 of Practical Skills, I understand what tripped me up. I had Idrija on the
brain--where each successive passive is used as the weaver following a
temporary pin. That didn't work with 6 prs in which one pair was gimp. The
Lorelei & Cook diagrams are like the turns used for the MJ salamandre & I
failed to recognize the connection. Tunnel vision here! Malvary, I do like
your ten stick idea as it would be quick to work & perhaps less likely that I
would get confused about what pair to use next. Thanks for saving me from
myself ladies! Sincerely , Susan Hottle USA

[lace] Books

2017-01-06 Thread miriam gidron
Hi Arachnese,

I have two books which I would like to sell.

Miniatue Bobbin Lace by Roz Snowden

and

Lace in Miniature by Ann Collier.

When I purchased them many years ago I was thinking of making a doll's
house for my grand daughters. But, I soon realized that the designs of
the doll house in the book is so different from our style of life that they
wouldn't really appreciate it. In the meantime one is already 21 and the
other 18 and they never got their doll house (except for a Barbi Kitchen)
and I never made any lace out of the books. So time has come to say good
bye and let them go.

If anyone is interested would you please contact me privately.
The books are in excellent condition, definitely like new .
