[lace] Lace Express

2017-03-23 Thread mary carey
Hi All,

Received the latest (and last) copy of Lace Express this week. I joined a
couple of years in and purchased back copies early. Photography and layout
always top class, and we all have "how to" books to refer to if prickings not
immediately clear.

It has been a very interesting journey through different designers' work,
techniques, even the ones I would never do. Have found it interesting to know
what others make and to see what others have done with their finished pieces.

If we want to continue to have this standard of information available to us in
books as well as magazines, we need to be very careful about copying within
allowable guidelines, and making the effort to buy our own copies of designs
to enable the process to continue.

At least a couple of times a year, I get mine out and look through them. I
also have a Data Base a friend set up for me so if I am looking for something
specific I do not have to look through 20 years of magazines. I have sections
so almost all information on sewing/crochet/lace can be recorded.

Hi fellow Arachnids,

A very nice article and hopefully you will gain some new members from it. The
reporter has listened and reported correctly. The “threats” on the pillow will
probably a typo. You are lucky to have a good reporter as occasionally words
are twisted or important bits left out (as has happened with me on one
occasion).
Also, nice to see that there is a variety of lacemaking techniques within your
relatively small group. Keep up the good work.

Happy lace making,

Joepie, on another dampish day in Sussex, UK.

What a lovely article. I do hope that you get some new members to join your
group of lovely ladies.

Allow me to share the marvelous article that just came out in our local
newspaper about our Guild, the Oregon Trail Lacemakers. We have been an IOLI
charter member since 2003, and are looking for more area people who are
interested in lacemaking.

Well done!! The reporter did pay notice to what you said and reported
correctly!! Just one amusing spot -your threads became threats -
"The pillow is used to keep the lace in place, as intricate threats are
carefully woven over a pattern that is pinned on the pillow, keeping
-everything in place."

Jeanette Fischer, Western Cape, South Africa.

I thought they did a good job interviewing us, then showing the variety of
members and their interests/motivations in choosing lacemaking in the
article.

Please enjoy!

The photographer and the reporter seemed to be enjoying themselves, and the
reporter even got to try some stitches on our visitor’s pillow. I thought they
