[lace] Lace society
Is it just me or has anyone received this quarters newsletter from the Lace Society? I received the one from the Lace Guild ages ago and usually the society follows shortly after. [lace] Lace Society Website Update
Dear Arachneans I have been a member of this list for a number of years now, but have never posted before. I am a member of The Lace Society in the UK and also maintain their website. So for any of you who have never found us before, I would like to post the website address www.thelacesociety.org.uk and to let you know that I have just finished updating it with the latest news and events. Many Thanks Jenny Phillips In a wet Solihull, England - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. [lace] Lace Society Newletter
My Lace Society Newletter arrived today with apologies for its lateness due to problems at the printers. An article about the Lace Archives at the Nottingham Trent University - apparently 75,000 pieces in the collection, not all catalogued yet! And some lovely Bucks patterns; in the next issue could we have a donation of time to make them in VBG Jacquie in Lincolnshire - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. Re: [lace] Lace Society Newsletter Mat
Hello Diana, Thanks so much for the help. I definately have more than enough bobbins for 60 to 70 pairs, so I guess its time to start winding. I was aware of working the mat in sections, but thank you for pointing out where it was started/finished. I had trouble finding the starting point until you pointed it out -- was quite obvious then. I have spent so much time making things for others I decided it is finally time to make something for myself. Helene Ulrich In chilly South Carolina USA Diana Smith [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hello Helene I haven't worked that particular mat but I would think that approximately sixty pairs plus gimps. Its hard to say because more pairs will be added for the flower which come half way through a segment. Just in case you don't know this sort of mat is worked 'around' - hanging in from the centre hole across to the outside edge and you complete each section at a time before moving on to the next section. If you look carefully you can see in the picture where it has been finished off half way up the right-hand side. It should be nice to work with all that honeycomb - might try that one sometime ;o) I'm sure you'll get a big response with help but if I can help at all just ask. Has anyone worked this. I've tried counting how may pairs of bobbins I would need and keep getting lost or interrupted while counting. Looks like a lot of pairs are needed and I don't really want to start and find out I don't have enough.
