answering my query. The videos suggested aren't the one that was recommended
on Arachne, but nonetheless they are helpful.

It’s called “Lace of Long Ago” (1931). You can find it on the British
Pathe site, but it’s easier to find on YouTube:

I wish they had shown a closeup of her making the tally! You can see it
appearing out of the threads but not where her hands are.

I remember seeing a video on britishpathe.com showing lace being made. The lady 
worked the bobbins with her left hand and put in pins with her right. It looked 
tremendously faster than the way I do it.

I'm not sure what video you are referring to, but it sounds like they were
working palms-up on a bolster pillow (which is how I learned in Slovenia).
You are able to work with all four bobbins in your hands that way.

Hi, This is my first posting on Arachne and I wonder if anyone can help me.
Some while ago someone posted a link to a video showing a lacemaker picking
up all four bobbins at once and working them in her hands rather than
picking up and working with 1 or 2 at a time and now despite searching in
the archive I can't find the relevant posting.

 

Hoping someone can help me.
