1.PILLOWS. The plastic foam packaging that comes with electrical goods etc can be cut with a sharp bread knife. I have a Prestige one, some 30+ years old that sharpens up beautifully for this and it saves using the other half's saws! I also put some calico around my blocks which are going to be the working side, helps to make the block last longer. The other thing I find helpful is to have 1/2, 1/3 and 1/4 blocks so you can move the work up by small amounts and not have to stretch too far. 2. Well, yes we shouldn't complain about the heat, however, they say that the winters will be colder in the south of England so maybe we should be grateful for what we have at the moment(?) Yesterday evening we had the mother and father of a thunderstorm. I have 9cms of water in a large pail that came down in 2 hours! We think a thunderbolt arrived very close as sound and flash were instanteous. Trouble is the ground is so dry it just runs off. 3. I am making lace, trying to keep my nerves calm while we wait for contracts to be exchanged and allow us to move next Wed.!! May we be saved from solicitors and their ideas of first thing in the morning!
Keep cool everyone and good lacing.
Sheila , now in brilliant sunshine after a dull start in Sawbo', Herts.,
