Hello All! Arachne rocks with eye candy today! Holy Cow--thanks Jean Mary for posting the link for the baby shawl. After reviewing the baby pages, I skipped right to the heritage section, followed shortly thereafter by the women's section of the site. Some very snazzy knits caught my eye, then Brenda posted a pic of her scarf. Love the aqua--it would be lovely to wear in Fla. in the evenings or in one of the Antarctic regions of many air-conditioned restaurants. Note to Santa! Tess, would you label or share some details regarding your techniques? Beautiful work but I'm not sure what I'm looking at! On the oval mat--are those spiders on steroids? The red shawl seems to have leaves on cloth work & the only time I've seen that was in a Cluny workshop that I attended. The pastel scarf reminded me of Greek key but upon closer inspection it seems to have your initial worked into the pattern. The edging motifs on the linen mat remind me of punta in aria but I see leaves! so it can't be. Am I the only Arachnid who could use some help to identify the various laces? Thank you Brenda for posting the link to Lace Guild UK contest winners. Congratulations to these very creative lacemakers--your work is truly inspiring! Is it possible to identify these lace techniques as well? I saved the pictures to my flash drive so I can share them at our guild gathering next month but can't name most of the laces. When I enlarge the photos, the lace go fuzzy so no help there! Do I see some Milanese braids on the Art Deco gown? And perhaps on the tic-tac-toe? Help/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks for making my week! Sincerely, Susan Hottle, Erie, PA USA, toiling away on my marudai because I need to have a yard of cording made by tomorrow. Trying to keep eight colors in order for the eight step repeat.
