Dear Miriam,
I think I joined Arachne in 1998, not sure any more. I have met a lot of
lace makers this way, visited them in their homes while travelling and made
many new friends.
I will always treasure the beautiful bookmark you made for me back around
2000. You even worked my name into it.\

Dear Friends,
I joined Arachne in late 1995 and made lots of friends throughout the world.
B I even visited their homes in Canada, Denmark, New Zealand and the UK
This comment from Janice reminded me that I've often meant to tell you all
that now that I am retired, if ever anyone wants to mind
Hi, Devon and fellow listmembers
I just tuned into this thread. I joined Arachne sometime during its first
year. I remember when someone downloaded the membership list from 'the major',
and found we had reached a membership of 400! Most impressive, at the time.
For a number of years, a
HI,
I have no idea when I joined or how I joined, but I do know this that my
early effort to study bobbins were a very collegiate approach with Arachne
members. I have always remembered your willing help and contributions.
There is no doubt as to the value I put on my membership of this
G'day Karen,
I still have your most beautiful solid silver tatting shuttle which I'll
treasure for life. I reckon I got that in 1996 and believe it was the first
one you'd sold outside the USA.
Nice to know you're still here too.

I got involved with Arachne in the mid 90's, pretty close to it's arrival on
the internet and it has been a vital part of my life for all these decades.Â
I'm a tatter and needlelacer and I can say I learned a lot about
I’m really enjoying reading everyone’s lace origin and Arachne stories! Thank
you all for sharing.
3000 members on Arachne - wow, that’s impressive! I’m wondering, Avital, if you
might be able to give us an updated count? I’m curious too!
Best,
Elena

I whole heartedly agree with everything Alice has said about Arachne,
especially Liz and Avital. I have made many friends around the globe
through this list as my husband makes aluminium bobbins though not on
such a large scale as he did before.
I was introduced to Arachne (after our son, who
My GOODNESS! Tamara knows the *day* she joined Arachne! I must say
that I remember very well the circumstances around my joining, and so
can pin it down to the month and year, but I'm sure I'd never remember
the day!!

Hi Jacqui
Yes, I remember Pat's gavel! That was a very special Convention in
Nottingham.
It must have been about the same time as you that I joined Arachne. I also
read about it in 'Lace'. I have remained a member all these years and it
was wonderful to meet some Arachnids in Groningen
I can't remember the decade I joined, never mind the day, month or year.
Hubbie and I even have to check with our vet to see if our beloved dog is 12
or 13 today - never mind Arachne. Although mostly a lurker, I have learned
so much from this list and made some very lovely friends.

I can't remember when I joined, but I was on the Lace Guild Exec at the
time; Sally Chapman told me about it. I did two stints, 1992-1995 as
an ordinary exec member and 1996-1999 as Hon Sec.
I don't remember the arachne convention in 1998 - probably had Exec
business that evening.

The list is 14 years old? Then I must be mistaken about when I joined.
I guess those diapers were older than I thought! OK, I have to join
the group that hasn't a clue, but I think it was probably at most
12-13 years that I've been on Arachne. Even with my housekeeping
standards I can't imagine
I knew that wasn't quite right, just wondered if anyone was reading
carefully vbg Probably Noelene thought the same v v bg
It was last year there was a brief discussion of a commem. bobbin for the
13th anniversary. A few came forward to say they would buy one if there was
one, one or two came
Thanks Jane and Robin, 14 years it is, and I've been a member for 13 of
them.
It's a shame we don't have commemoratives any more, but it really is hard
work trying to organise it, so for the last couple of years I've made my
own, by writing on a plain bobbin with a micro tip pen, putting on a

And Happy Birthday to us all, 12 years is pretty good going.
I always thought 2009 - 1995 was 14, not 12 :-)
That's what I thought too
