I haven't been able to access my email lately, but wanted to thank Noelene for
her lovely Christmas card and collection of poems! The card is quite lovely,
with a lace figure and pretty sparkles on the front. We are so lucky to have
Noelene share her poetry with us!  Thank you Noelene!

I would also like to thank Rebecca for her lovely tree ornament in a card that

Re: [lace] Season's Greetings

2014-12-22 Thread Sue
Same greetings from me in Dorset UK, no bobbin lace in progress at the
moment, but am almost finished on my first actual piece of needle lace.
There are a couple of part bits on various other patterns I tried (about a
1/4 of an inch by about an inch wide) and it is really good to see it
turning from an ugly duckling to something more resembling the swan. Not
literally, but where I was not impressed with the look so far and have
considered cutting it off the pad I continued to try and am pleased I did.
Looking forward to seeing if it is good enough to give as a gift, or not.
After 11 years of concentrating only on bobbin lace with no other real
interest in trying other laces I have gradually gained an interest in
attempting to learn, tatting, romanian point lace and now needle lace. Now
to attempt my biggest challenge so far, making up this large pattern from
scratch. Hmmm, not sure how well I will achieve pulling this one off, but
with my new specticles it might be possible (Oh and a lot of patience).

Best wishes to all for now and the New Year.
Sue T Dorset UK

I know it's not quite Christmas but I would like to send my Best Wishes and
Season's Greetings to all on 'Arachne'.

I don't have any lace on my pillows at present but 2015 I am hoping to try a
'new to me' technique by starting at the beginning of one of the books in my
collection and working through, I just have to decide which one.

Best Wishes again

Re: [lace] Season's Greetings

2014-12-22 Thread Sue Harvey
Thanks for your Christmas greeting I hope you and yours have a Happy Christmas
and a peaceful New Year.

I did exactly what you are planning to do with the new project, I decided to
start with Bucks Point and used Geraldine Stotts book starting at the beginning
and piece by piece gained knowledge of the lace. I think that is the best way
because it gets increasingly harder as you go but it certainly gives you a
great grounding. The practice pieces I trimmed a dolls christening outfit that
I made. ( you can see the doll on my Arachne photos)
