This arrived from one of my American friends so I though you might enjoy it.
Whether true or not it was still quite amusing and shows how easy it would be
if you learned languages, to send messages without others understanding what
you are saying... Sue T, Dorset UK

  G'day all,
thought you might enjoy a story I read today in the book the book
called "Sapiens" which I'm currently reading.

It tells of the days early in 1970 when Buz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong
were doing their intensive training in outback USA prior to their
moon mission. Towards the end of one very tedious day the were met by
a very old native American from the area who asked what they were doing
there.

When they told him he smiled and asked whether they'd mind doing him
a very special favour. They said they'd do their best. Apparently his
people held the Moon Spirits in very high esteem and he wanted them
to learn by a heart a message in his language to take to them on the
moon. He made them repeat it and repeat it until they had it just
right, but he wouldn't tell them what it meant as it was all such
  sacred business.

When they got back to base they searched around and found a younger
man who spoke the language and asked him what it meant. After they
rattled it off to him, he burst into laughter and told them it meant:
"Don't believe a word they tell you. They've only come here to steal
  your lands!"

I've no idea whether its true, but this author has no reason to lie.
