The Canadian postal service is also VERY expensive. Part of the problem is that you have to know where the parcel is going (different rates for different post codes). This is one of the reasons I haven't put some things on e-bay because I can't quote the postage until I know where it is

If it's possible see if you can't get the books you are looking for in Germany rather than the us (they tend to have a much better selection than the uk) that's where most of my books and thread come from. postage is ok or even free and arrives about as fast as uk 2nd class. On 4 Sep

I think this is one reason so many eBay vendors choose the Flate-Rate Priority mail. You figure out which container the item requires, and you know how much the shipping will be. For a tiny little bobbin, the lowest possible rate in Flate-Rate would be $4.95 (I think it's still that...
