DH saw an interview with the minister of tourism, who said, essentially
"Ninety-five percent of our tourist hotels are in perfect shape -- AND WE
NEED THE MONEY."

T'would seem that for once the instinct to rush out to gawk at a disaster
could be as useful as it was in the days when we lived in villages and
everybody knew who could do what -- if we can get people to realize that
it's all right to stop suppressing it.
