David, Ancestry.com only has New York marriage indexes for 1866-1937, so I’m guessing that that 1866 was the start of their civil registration. Anything earlier would presumably be a church record. I did try putting Thomas OWEN and Catherine BOYD and 1852 into the search for USA, but
