[l2h] two columns contents list

Hi, need to split a long contents list into two columns. As far as I remember it was done on an old LaTeX2HTML on-line manual. How was that achieved? An other fine layout I whould like to apply is the alphabetical subsectioning of a long index as in the current on-line manual.
