I tested the Orpheus and THtmlPort packages with GTK2 on my MacBook using FPC 2.5.1 and LCL, both from yesterday's SVN, and both packages are remarkably improved with GTK2 compared to what I saw with 0.9.28 / FPC 2.2.4 only a couple months ago.
With Orpheus, the testtable app works about as well as it ever has, although it does crash when it exits. However, I found that the Carbon testtable app crashes too upon exiting, but only on Intel Mac, not PowerPC Mac. On Carbon it doesn't put up a dialog, but only writes the backtrace to the Console app, so I hadn't noticed this crash before - sort of a silent crash. Can someone test the Orpheus testtable app, say on Linux GTK2, to see if this is reproducible away from Mac? I'm using GTK2 2.14.7. Also, the THtmlPort framedem app displays the HTML almost perfectly now. It does crash in a number of places, but at least now there's a place to start instead of the previous "flash and crash" stack overflow error at startup that told me nothing. If someone could test the framedem app on Linux GTK2 to make sure I'm not imagining this improvement, that would be great too. http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/OrphPort http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/THtmlPort I would say it's not all doom and gloom with GTK2 bugs. GTK2 is certainly improving a lot by the measure of these 2 packages. Now if I could just get the Gecko apps to work on Linux... Thanks. -Phil -- _______________________________________________ Lazarus mailing list Lazarus@lists.lazarus.freepascal.org http://lists.lazarus.freepascal.org/mailman/listinfo/lazarus
