Try loading the pci-scan module as well. I believe this is needed for

(all?) PCI nics.

When it gets to configuing the NICs
You don't nee natsemi.o and tulip.o for 3com 3c905 Nics. Comment them out.
They are for tulip and national semiconductor chipset NICs
